Poems by Jorge Etcheverry Arcaya

Icarus

If we were meant to fly
God would have given us wings
my Grandma said

Long after
reading the Classics
I was impressed
by the fate of Icarus:
He got so close to the sun
his wax wings
melted

That’s why
I never take a plane.
